Hysteroscopic Procedures

Hysteroscopy isn't a procedure any more than laparoscopy or laparotomy are procedures. Instead, it is a method of access to the endometrial cavity that is accomplished via the vagina and the cervical canal that allows a surgeon with appropriate training and skill to diagnose intrauterine pathology and perform intrauterine surgery. Like laparotomy and laparoscopy, different procedures require differences in equipment, supplies and surgical training and skill and are associated with a variety of risks. Consequently, the hysteroscopic surgeon should consider obtaining training in each procedure, and, with procedures such as myomectomy, segment the training according to FIGO type and other features of submucous leiomyomas that may present challenges. At this time, while all are "under construction" the Diagnostic Hysteroscopy, Myomectomy, Adhesiolysis, Polypectomy and Metroplasty sections are reasonably complete; Endometrial Biopsy and Metroplasty are populated with video and rudimentary text.
