Regulatory Compliance
Regardless of where you work, there will exist national, regional, local and/or institutional regulations to which you must adhere. This is especially true when starting an office or clinic based program. So it is important to identify and carefully review these resources as you plan to build your program. For example, there are generally rules about the use of anxiolytic or anesthetic agents that alter consciousness including those that can affect respiratory function. For the typical office environment, it is generally preferable that no or local anesthetics are used potentially in conjunction with non-sedating analgesics such as non steroidal antiinflammatory agents that don't adversely affect mentation or respiratory function.
